This weekend, Justin decided it was a good time to start working on the back yard. I don't know if our backyard has ever really had some good TLC. For the past few years, there has been nothing but weeds in the backyard and no one has really wanted to hang out back there, not even the dog, so Justin got to work on it. We are going to be digging up the whole back yard and starting from scratch. The ground is so hard that not even grass can grow. So with this, Justin is going to break up the dirt, mix in some good top soil and re-seed half the yard with actual grass and put a garden on the other half so that it can start getting some good nutrients. He has always talked about when he lived in Mexico as a kid and prided himself for his large garden that he had to take care of and wants to do it again. Plus, it would be nice to actually have some home grown veggies and teach JJ how to grow things on his own.
I took some pictures of my men working hard in the yard. I think JJ thought it was really cool to get all dirty and find all the earth worms and make it into a treasure hunt. We found some old playstation games under the dirt, old toys from when we were kids and plenty of roots from trees. I still don't know how they got where Justin was digging them up since I don't ever remember having trees on that end of the yard. But even with all the dirt, bugs and weeds, they still had a great time. We are almost 1/3 done with the back yard and so within the next week or two, between Justin and JJ and two cheerleaders, we should have the whole backyard dug up and we can actually start making the backyard a place where we want to hang out again.
My JJ is growing up so fast. He loved getting his hands dirty with his dad.
Justin and JJ had a great time helping to dig out the weeds in the yard. (That's all it was in our backyard, weeds)
I think it was great that JJ loved working in the backyard helping his dad. They got some really good father-son time and talking in.

That is the side of the yard that the old garden was in. I don't know how play station games got burried in the dirt, because you kids didn't have a play station when we lived there. Some of the renters must have had them......That back yard did need some TLC. Is Rocky going to be able to go back there again?
Oh man...that's what we having to do. I am SO not looking forward to it. But along with digging up the yard, we have to replace the fence in the back, the deck around the house and level the grassy area. I'm going to have to work 3 jobs...pfffft!
Did they find any dead bodies?
I have a pack of bush beans for JJ to plant. They won't find any of the bodies in the back yard; I figure that's the first place they'd look. lol
Mom and Dad, I hope we don't find any dead bodies in the back yard from when the renters lived here but I wouldn't be surprised if we dug up a pet cemetery. Oh wait, they just let us find them above ground. They didn't bother putting them underground.
Jillie, we are actually having to do that also, except we don't have a deck. We already replaced two sides of the fence a year ago and we are going to replace the last side in a month or two so I'll be happy.
Yrautca, not yet. I hope we don't.
OMG! JJ has gotten so tall and big! When did this happen? Oh, but it's so great to have these family projects.
